Scope of Work
Mid 2013 Chevron awarded a contract variation to MMA for the transportation of specialised project equipment from Henderson to Barrow Island.
The specialised project equipment required much larger and more complex barges arrangements than MMA had previously used on project. Hence it also required more powerful tugs.
To meet the scope of works, MMA modified two 400ft barges in South East Asia. One barge was fitted with a 400 tonne rail mounted crane once it arrived in Henderson, Western Australia. Undertaking these modification works required a project management team of ten dedicated personnel. The barges, along with third party Ocean going tugs were chartered and crewed by MMA and successfully provided roll-on roll-off and lift-on lift-off cargo transportation.
The project demonstrates MMA’s ability to provide fit for purpose marine solutions to complex offshore challenges.
