Our History

MMA Offshore was established in 1989 in Dampier, Western Australia, under the operating name ‘Mermaid Marine Australia’. With just a single vessel and a small team, the Company supported Australia’s growing oil and gas industry, rapidly gaining a strong reputation for delivering safe, reliable and efficient operations.

Over the next decade, the Company grew substantially and was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 1999. By 2006, we had established our first international headquarters in Singapore, followed by the acquisition of Singapore-based vessel operator, Jaya Holdings, in 2014 which further increased the Company’s global presence. We rebranded this same year, changing our Company name to ‘MMA Offshore’.

In 2019, MMA acquired Neptune Marine Services – a step forward that significantly expanded the Company’s service offerings, allowing us to provide a suite of comprehensive subsea solutions to our clients, and providing us with an opportunity to enter several new markets.

In 2020, MMA was appointed to the Australian Department of Defence’s hydrographic surveying panel, and awarded its first offshore wind contract which not only diversified the Company’s earnings, but also underscored our commitment to environmental stewardship. In the years that followed, sustainability would be a core value of the business, which led to the 2022 acquisition of stabilisation and environmental solutions business, Subcon.

MMA’s strong performance in supporting the renewable energy market saw the start of a new and exciting chapter in the Company’s history in 2024, whereby MMA became a subsidiary of Cyan Renewables – Asia's first dedicated offshore wind vessel operator.

We are proud of our legacy and are excited about our future in playing our part in the global energy transition.
