Project Overview
Macedon gas field is located about 100km west of Onslow in Western Australia. McDermott was contracted with the design, procurement, fabrication, transportation and installation of 77km of a 20 inch pipeline, subsea umbilicals and flexibible flowlines
MMA's Solution
MMA was awarded to provide 450 off 70kg flying lead grout bags. The bags were custom designed by MMA to meet the requirements for subsea placement and activation by ROV.
Technical Details
The ROV bags were designed to provide 45kg submerged weight. The density of the grout bags in water is 1900kg/m3. The yield of cement to water is 70% by weight i.e. the cement absorbs 30% water. In other words 70kg of cement once mixed with water and set, weights 93kg in air and 48kg in water. ROV friendly handles have been provided. The bags incorporate an outer ROV friendly polypropylene bag that is lined with two heat sealed, water proof liners.
