Project Overview
Mon Choisy beach located along the nortwest coast of Mauritius suffers from erosion problems at the southern end. The fringing reef that lies offshore of Mon Choisy is responsible for dissipating wave energy, generating sand and allowing the beach to exist. Degradation of the reefs coral communities is one of the reasons of the erosion.
MMA's Solution
MMA was asked to supply patented artificial reef structures for installation offshore of Mauritius. MMA provided the moulds, consumables and fabrication supervision for the fabrication of five different reef types totalling 895 structures.
