Coastal Erosion Control

MMA uses a variety of solutions to stabilise shorelines and prevent erosion at both coastal regions and ports.

Our in-house solutions include the protection of eroding shorelines, outfalls and pipeline shore crossings. As an innovative solution to coastal erosion control, MMA has also designed, tested and deployed wave attenuating fringing reefs (WAFR) at multiple sites globally.

Engineered Reefs

Having now installed over 30 artificial reefs across the world, MMA has extensive experience in designing, planning, manufacturing and installing artificial reef structures – providing long-term benefits to coastal communities.

Engineered reefs are economically viable, technically proven and environmentally productive reef infrastructures that can be delivered on a large scale. Our designs use advanced computer modelling and tank testing to support diver safety, structural integrity and stability in even the harshest of environments. We are also pioneering the use of low carbon footprint reef materials, advanced fabrication methods and remote installation.

We have delivered globally-recognised, industrial scale habitat solutions for fisheries enhancement, reef restoration, coastal erosion control, offshore wind, decommissioning, tourism and living harbour applications.

Berth Pocket Scour Protection

At MMA, we have extensive expertise in scour protection systems for berthing pockets and breakwalls in ports and LNG terminals, jetties, bridge piles and revetments.

Our stabilisation techniques are also applicable to coastal engineering applications for beach head protection, erosion control, outfall pipeline stabilisation and wave attenuation. We have extensive experience in the stabilisation of berthing pockets for bulk material vessels, MOFs and RORO vessels. All MMA berthing pocket scour protection solutions meet industry-standard PIANC guidelines. These include:
