MMA’s operating strategy is to ‘Target 365 – a Perfect Day Every Day’, which focuses on everyone coming to work each day with the aim of having a “Perfect Day”, that is, a day free of recordable injuries and material incidents.
MMA has implemented a number of initiatives under the Target 365 strategy, including:
Perfect Days are tracked via internal reports and communicated to staff via the Company’s intranet system on a Perfect Day dashboard. In the 2016 financial year, MMA achieved 310 Perfect Days across the whole organisation. This equates to a Perfect Day percentage of 85%, which is a slight decrease in the percentage from the previous year of 89%. Whilst the number of Perfect Days has reduced there has been a decrease in the severity of incidents and an increased reporting culture. In the 2017 financial year, MMA's organisation-wide target is to have 365 Perfect Days.
MMA also runs a Target 365 rewards programme, whereby business units who achieve exceptional safety performance are given the opportunity to donate monetary rewards to registered charities.
To date, the MMA Offshore Target 365 reward and recognition program has donated over $85,000 to charity.
Charities who have benefited from Target 365 rewards include Legacy Fremantle, Royal Flying Doctor Service, The Salvation Army, Leukaemia Foundation, Canteen, Seafarers Mission, World Vision, Movember and Prostate Council amongst other worthy causes.
